Runner Beans: Now then i quite uniquely grow?

Bacteria in nodules on the roots of beans are able to fix atmospheric nitrogen, converting it to nitrates. Throw the soil away and you lose those nitrates! I would retain the soil but, as soil in barrels tends to get compacted, I would loosen it up with a garden fork and add something like chicken pellets shortly before sowing the next crop.
