Why has 'god' given us a fear or a sense of morbidity towards death?

Humans are animals. Animals have a survivor instinct that demands fear of death -- it's simply inborn and natural. Just part of the evolutionary process. A species wouldn't compete well if it had no desire to live (fear death) and would soon die off.
