Top restaurant and bar suggestions in New York?

We are going to New York for 5 days in December and as a christmas present am staying in two nice 5* hotels. Has anyone any suggestions for good bars with a view, a posh restaurant (although not a snooty one!) or two and a couple of more down to earth sports bars and proper good burger places, We are staying up by Rockefeller's centre but will be travelling round Manhattan.
